Arts in Development
“Economic diversification, international trade, creativity and innovation, job creation, youth employment, social inclusion, and cultural democracy.” These are just some of the areas that arts can contribute to a society, argues Patrick Kabanda in The Creative Wealth of Nations (p. 3). Beginning with Kabanda’s work at UNESCO, we bridge to Scripture, church history, and missiology to create a paradigm for how arts can contribute to development for the sake of the gospel.

Arts in Movements
New scholarship is showing that arts can play a decisive role in the sparking and propagation of rapidly self-reproducing movements to Christ among unreached peoples of the world. Unfortunately, almost nothing of this is known to the wider missions community. We draw on the latest research, best practices in DMM/CPM, and applied ethnoarts to equip you with real tools and insights to take back to your field of service and put into practice to see movements to Christ.

Based on case studies and field experience, this course surveys the vast array of artistic expressions found in Muslim communities across the world, with an emphasis on the Caucasus/Central Asia. Participants will gain exposure to a range of applications and will walk away with a practical heuristic for field approaches with today’s Muslim communities through the arts.

Do we engage with these new technologies, and if so, how? What are possible applications for frontier contexts? What dangers must we avoid? Hear from Christian thinkers, practitioners, and creators at the vanguard of these developments.
