What is Arts Discipleship?
-
Creative Practice ⦿
Creators have to create. Each participant is required to spend many hours each week creating. Cutting out patterns, laying down tracks, mocking up a plot, penciling in the bones. Whatever your art form is, that's what you will spend time on. Through this, we develop creative muscle and maturity. This practice undergirds our theological reflection.

Theological foundations ⟁
Who am I as an artist in Christ? What is God’s design for art in the world? And what is God’s plan for artists in frontier ministry? These questions can only be answered through a Spirit-filled application of God’s word. We explore these and other questions through a core of Bible teaching and theological reading.
-
Worshiping community ⟰
Transformation happens in community—that’s how God designed it. We live week by week as a close-knit fellowship centered on worship, prayer, and sharing life together. Each week we gather for periods of worship and prayer, for community dinner, and small group encouragement.
-
Cross-cultural skills ⇋
Becoming the creatives God made us to be is only half of the picture; we also need the skills to cross cultures and connect with others through their own arts. Participants receive all of the short courses offered through our Training track, plus additional teaching tailored for artists. 5-10 hours per week will be given to reading and coursework.

Group ethnoarts project ✻
To date, 17 unengaged people groups are represented in the country of Georgia. Our cohort will put its learning to work by prayerfully engaging these communities with ethnoarts projects geared to serve the local community with Kingdom purpose. Cohorts jointly prep, carry out, and debrief this project throughout the session.

Adventure + play ☆
“Almost all creativity involves purposeful play.” —Abraham Maslow. We consider play part of our work as artists. Georgia is no place to sit on the sidelines and watch the world go by. Together as a cohort we will enjoy some of the natural beauty and incredible cultural experiences available in the country. Time is also be given for your own exploration, rest, and recreation.
