Dessert & Discussion: Creative Community: Learning from the Inklings
Due to ongoing protests, the location for our meeting is TBD and will be announced Sunday afternoon.
COMMUNITY
is the dance partner of
CREATIVITY. Community is the trellis that the vines of creativity grow up. It is the crew of the ship which creativity blows along. It is the next for its eggs, the wind beneath its wings… and the cliché for its event blurb :/
But how does such a community really happen? And what can we do to cultivate it? Those are the questions we explore this week by
visiting with the mythical granddaddy of all creative communities—the Inklings. Thanks to the articulate
yet
accessible scholarship of
Diana Glyer, we’ll learn what they did to make it work, and what we can do ourselves.
Then (here comes the exciting part) we will
put it into practice and plans for our own creative community to sustain us through Summer 2024.
TEXT: The Inklings, Creativity, and Community, with Diana Glyer
Please note:
Our text this week is a wonderful interview Glyer gave to the Trinity Forum, and it is about 1 hour long. Please give it a good listen! We encourage you to sit back, take notes, think deep thoughts.

Dessert & Discussion will be a time to gather for thought-provoking conversation centered on a text, a work of art, or some other material that we will consider together in light of Scripture and our lives in Christ. We will also discuss connections to the culture around us, and our presence for Christ in the world.

Dessert & Discussion: Inspiration & the Creative Muse
INSPIRATION
strikes! Or… doesn’t. Like a mysterious wind, or a coquettish girl, inspiration can appear one moment, and disappear the next; flash like a spark, or run through our fingers like sand. This week we discuss what inspiration is, how we find it, and how we recover it when lost. But especially we will consider what God has to do with it. How does the Holy Spirit relate to our imaginative energies? Is it him? Is it me? Is it both?

Dessert & Discussion: Worldbuilding (Copy)
This week we will discuss: WORLDBUILDING.
We’re creators, all. Whether it’s through fiction, film, visual arts,
homemaking,
building a business, family, or lego land, we participate in God’s great creative work. What does it take to worldbuild? We humbly offer an in-depth conversation between Eli and his brother Max, recently featured on the Worldcraft Club podcast.
RSVP below. Listen to the podcast and come ready to discuss!
